Growing up, I thought Peter Paul Almond Joy & Peter Paul Mounds were the ultimate chocolate-coconut combo. And what a combo it was. Two precious little bars packed tight in a blue and white wrapper. I would consume mine in layers, first licking off the chocolate coating, then biting the almond and then allowing the unctuous cocomash to fill my mouth. Youthful delirium. The only decision was which one to eat and hence their wildly effective advertising slogan: “Sometimes you feel like a nut. Sometimes you don’t…”.
But the time comes to put away childish things and take up adult pleasures. And what a pleasure See’s candy’s Dark Chocolate Coconut Special is. A square of high quality dark chocolate hugging tightly to the tastiest melange of coconut and sugar. It’s sooo good.
It’s fortunate I didn’t grow up with See’s or my teeth might never have survived. Their free sample on every visit is addictive. That’s how I discovered this coconut decadence. It was a sample when I was buying my See’s chocolate lollipops (future chocolate post alert!)
Yes, there are many other fantastic chocolates at dear Mrs. See’s but if I could only pick one, this would be it. It’s not Almond Joy. It’s Pure Joy!
